We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our team at Lucent Advisory Group. This role is ideal for a highly skilled tax professional with a proven track record in small business taxation, client development, and team leadership.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing client relationships, overseeing service delivery, and driving operational efficiencies.
With a clear path to partnership within 3-5 years, this position offers the opportunity to earn shareholding and eventually take ownership of a substantial client book, contributing to the firm's long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of at least 3 senior accountants, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance oversight to ensure high-quality deliverables and professional development.
Oversee technical tax advisory and compliance services for small business clients, including tax planning, returns, audits, and strategic advice to optimize tax outcomes.
Drive client retention strategies, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring exceptional service delivery to foster loyalty and organic growth.
Manage and expand a client book valued at over $600k, identifying opportunities for upselling services and cross-referrals.
Contribute to process improvements across the firm, streamlining workflows, implementing best practices, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Collaborate with senior leadership on firm-wide initiatives, including staff management, resource allocation, and client service enhancements.
Prepare for progression to partnership by demonstrating leadership in managing staff, processes, and client portfolios.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CA qualification is essential.
Extensive experience in technical tax for small businesses, with a deep understanding of
Australian tax laws, deductions, incentives, and compliance requirements.
Proven track record of developing and managing a client book exceeding $600k in annual fees.
Strong understanding of group structuring to optimise for client outcomes
Proficient in entity establishments including SMSF, trust, and companies
Demonstrated success in client retention, with a focus on building long-term relationships and
achieving high satisfaction rates.
At least 5 years of experience in a managerial role, including leading a team of senior
accountants or similar professionals.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate teams and manage
performance effectively.
Ambition to advance to partnership within 3-5 years, with a passion for business development
and operational management.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, NowInfinity, Class, FYI Docs) and tax preparation
tools.
